From my understanding, I believe that The Battle of Britain was the most significant turning part of the war. Before the Battle of Britain the Allies were constantly on the defensive and always retreating. Britain was the allies last hope. They endured 76 straight days of bombing and raids and were close to giving up. Luckily they had St. Pauls Cathedral and Winston Churchill to keep them going. Every day through that period they were reminded about how they must keep pushing and keep grinding forward. After the British had pushed the Germans out the Americans joined the war and helped with the Allied offensive. Then after that Stalingrad happened and the Germans were running backwards. It was not an easy task for the British public to clean up after every air raid, every day, for 76 days. They managed to push through and survive. This hope, I believe, was contagious and spread throughout the Allies to end WW2 shortly after.
