The maginot line
- State of the art defence system built to keep the Germans out of France.
- French started to pressure Germany now more than ever to pay reparation money.
- This gave them a defensive position against Germany that they have never had before.
- Build Fortifications along French/ German border.
- Due to the wall France believed that they had enough security and did not need to invest a
lot into their military.
- French was not able to construct the wall and finish it in time before the Germans invaded France.
- Germany simply went around the wall rather than through it.
- "We could hardly dream of building a kind of Great Wall of France, which would in any case be far too costly. Instead we have foreseen powerful but flexible means of organizing defense, based on the dual principle of taking full advantage of the terrain and establishing a continuous line of fire everywhere."
—Andre Maginot
